Sweet Chestnut & Cricket Bat Willow Trugs

The Hand Crafted Sweet Chestnut & Cricket Bat Willow Trugs are handmade using traditional materials, with methods passed down over generations. The handle, rim and straps are made from locally sourced coppiced Sweet Chestnut, with Cricket Bat Willow for boards and feet. Rims, handles and boards and hand-shaved to fit snugly then fastened in place with nails from the same workshop in Herstmonceux since 1899. During it's lifetime a trug, being made of all natural materials, can move very slightly, depending on atmospheric conditions, so it is periodically advisable, to check that no nails have worked loosed. This can easily be remedied by firmly hammering the nail back. The trugs are made to be used, treasured and enjoyed for many, many years.
