In “Pattern Drafting: Applied Maths and the Geometry of Sleeves,” you’ll dive into the essential mathematical foundations and anatomical understanding needed to draft any style of sleeve – from set-in to raglan. You’ll learn how to calculate the stitches and rows for your patterns, understand key muscle groups and skeletal landmarks, and apply these principles manually and (looking ahead to grading, if that’s also where you want to go) with CAD tools like Excel. This course integrates geometry, anatomy, and size- and shape-inclusivity, moving away from “plug and play” formulas. You’ll learn to identify key areas for fit, putting you in a strong position to offer excellent advice on alterations and customizations, and setting you up for sound pattern grading.
