Coffee Table Book: UNVEILED
UNVEILED: A Portrait exploration of identity and adornment by April Thomas Artist statement: Through portraiture, I document transformation. My work is deeply inspired by queer performance, adornment, ritual, and the sacred act of becoming. These images are not simply photographs of people…they are studies of power, vulnerability, identity, and self-construction. Each subject exists somewhere between softness and armor, fantasy and truth, performance and revelation. Coming from a background rooted in body art, modification, and visual storytelling, I have long been fascinated by the ways humans reshape themselves in pursuit of authenticity. Jewelry, makeup, tattoos, costume, gesture, posture, expression - all become tools of mythology. In front of the camera, my subjects are not hiding who they are. They are amplifying it. This collection explores glamour not as vanity, but as transformation. A spell. A survival tactic. A declaration. The performers, artists, and visionaries featured in this series embody resilience, sensuality, theatricality, and freedom. Together, these portraits create a visual altar dedicated to self-expression and the courage required to be truly seen. — April Thomas 42 Page Hardcover Book - 11x8
