Vintage Japanese Midare-ami style Ikebana Basket - Bamboo

A vintage Japanese midare-ami style woven basket for floral arrangement. Made from split split bamboo with a dark internal liner. The basket is constructed in the midare-ami (random weaving) style, using wide, overlapping bamboo strips layered at irregular angles. A tall, slender handle forms a high arch over the rounded body. Known as a hanakago, this style of basket is traditionally used in Japan to hold casual or seasonal ikebana floral arrangements.
