Legal notice for Belgium: “Organic growing substrate: Pasteurized and seeded mushroom bed substrate" (Exemption No. EM470.J) 📦 Use If you cannot use the fruiting block immediately, store it in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks. This variety can be grown year-round, with an ideal temperature between 12°C and 20°C. Make a cut on the side of the fruiting block at the substrate level. Expel the air from the bag well to prevent mushrooms from growing inside. Place the bag with the opening on the side. Keep the bag moist until buds appear. Maintain humidity between 80 and 90% during mushroom growth. Use our minispray or our professional misters to maintain optimal humidity. Growing Parameters Fruiting Temperature 10-20°C. Ideal: 15°C Relative Humidity 85 to 95% Fruiting Duration 5-10 days CO2 Concentration 500-800ppm Light Requirement 600-1000 lux Number of Harvests 2 to 3 harvests 🌱 Where to Grow It? Grow indoors (kitchen, garage, cellar). Oyster mushrooms need some light to grow. Prefer indirect sunlight and avoid anything that could dry out the fruiting block: drafts, heaters, direct sun. Oyster mushrooms like humidity but do not like to be soaked constantly. 🔄 Harvest Harvest the clusters before the edges of the caps curl up and start to brown slightly. At the start of growth, caps can double in size each day. When growth slows and caps turn light gray, it is the right time to harvest. Harvesting young mushrooms allows better preservation and a more tender texture. Pull off the clusters by twisting them. Remove remaining stem pieces from the substrate and keep it moist until the next harvest. Generally, we get 3 harvests per fruiting block. The first is the most abundant, the following ones decrease by half each time. Oyster mushrooms keep about 7 to 10 days in a paper bag in the refrigerator. For longer storage, you can freeze or preserve them. 💡 Tips To encourage productivity of the second and third harvests: Re-moisten the bags by soaking them overnight in water, then drain and put them back to grow. Give a cold shock by placing the fruiting block overnight in a cool place (refrigerator or outside). This simulates the arrival of winter and encourages mushroom reproduction.
