Kāmeta - Pure Silk - Kana Kana
Te Rere o te Kanakana is about kanakana (lamprey), an ancient migratory species that has long been an important food source for iwi across Te Waipounamu. The Kanakana are known to run in abundance, signalling the arrival of Matariki. This pattern acknowledges and celebrates Matariki from a Te Waipounamu perspective and references the saying “Ka kitea a Matariki, ka rere te kanakana” - when Matariki is seen, the lamprey migrate. It acknowledges different ways we can celebrate the time of Matariki and our interconnected relationship with te taiao. Original design by Aritaua. Pure Silk Scarf. 80 x 80cm. Comes with box. Made in China.
