Domaine du Pere Pape, Chateauneuf Du Pape, 2019

Founded by Gratien Mayard in the 19th century, the Vignoble Mayard is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and has been a family business for 6 generations. The Domaine du Pere Pape Châteauneuf du Pape is a wonderful blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault. The grapes are sourced from soils of sand and red clay covered with the peculiar Rhone rolled pebbles (locally called 'galets roulés'). They bring the grapes to optimum ripeness by releasing the sun's heat through the night. All of the most painstaking processes have gone into this - hand harvesting, hand grape selection, full extraction, full malolactic fermentation, indigenous yeasts. A lot of jumbo jargon just to say - this winemaker means BUSINESS.
