280 Ross

The 280 Ross is an iconic cartridge that in many ways preceded the high velocity craze of the 60s and 70s, being introduced in 1906. This slightly oversized (0.287″) 7 mm cartridge is a magnum in everything but name and was ahead of its time. The tapered case was designed to provide easy extraction in the Ross straight-pull action and when combined with proper bullets (Woodleigh makes bonded core bullets meant for the 280) it is capable of taking almost anything in North America.
