Quilted Patchwork Slippers with Leonie – Friday 31 July 2026
Date: 31st July 2026 Time: 10:00am – 2:30pm (9:30 setup) Focus of this workshop: Using your patchwork and quilting techniques to make a garment – in this case, comfortable slippers. Have fun creating your personalised slippers with a non-slip sole and fabric to delight your senses and wear in comfort. The slippers are not only non-slip, they feature a removable padded insole making them warm on the cold winter floors. You will be guided through the construction and provided with a pattern to suit your size. Let the ladies at Canberra Sewing know what your size is so that your pattern will be ready for you to start on the day. Non-slip sole material is available at Canberra Sewing – don’t worry about purchasing it in advance Level of skill required for this workshop: for beginners and experienced quilters wanting to refresh or expand their skills. This workshop will develop the following skills: • Setting up your sewing machine for quilting using bag batting. • Choosing batting, stitch type and thread for this type of project. • Cutting to size using a pattern, labelling cut pieces and joining curves. This workshop will develop the following skills: • Making a template of any size to suit • Tracing and cutting curved templates ready for accurate sewing • Setting up your machine for piecing fabric • Stitching an accurate ¼” seam • Pressing and ironing biases and seams accurately • Matching curves for a perfect join A link to the materials list will be sent in your acknowledgement email.
