In this hands-on workshop, participants will embark on a creative journey to construct a tailored jacket, supported by expert craftspeople. This course will guide you through every step involved in creating a beautifully tailored jacket in fused calico that is fully lined with a shoulder pad. The perfect sampler. You will learn essential techniques, engage in sewing discussions, and reference finished samplers as you work on your jacket. There is a small amount of sewing required out of class, to reinforce learning in class. Participants will be immersed in hands-on learning, starting with introductions, followed by demonstrations on each key technique. Ample time will be provided for personal practice and instructor feedback. What you will learn Correct Sewing Steps: Master the essential sewing steps and pressing techniques specific to tailored jacket construction. Collar Construction: Construct both under and top tailored collars for a professional finish. Pocket Techniques: Sew the jet pocket and pocket bag. Lining and Facings: Learn to construct and attach the lining and facings to the outer shell of the jacket. Sleeve Easing: Perfect the technique of easing in a tailored sleeve for a comfortable fit. Finishing Techniques: Learn how to attach shoulder pads and create the sleeve head roll. Jacket Vent Construction: Follow step-by-step methods for constructing the jacket back vent and lining. Complete Jacket: Finish a fully lined jacket with the techniques learned throughout the workshop. Materials needed · Participants may bring their own sewing machine or use one of ours. Recommended items to bring: Sewing snips Pins Any additional personal sewing supplies you prefer to use Tape measure What's included Detailed illustrated handouts to support your learning, including a documented work program for each step. A fully cut and fused calico sampler, including lining, shoulder pads, and sleeve heading. Samplers of each step to help you understand the sewing process (for use only in class, not to be taken home). A supportive and spacious sewing studio equipped with tools and materials.
