The knights of the Order of Saint John were built on one idea—that the warriors of Christ should be healers as well as warriors. Commonly known as Hospitallers, the order protected pilgrim roads for all faiths and aided any who sought assistance in their hospitals. Few orders walked away with their honor fully intact from the chaos of the Middle Ages, but the Knights of Saint John carry the cross and their honor to this day. Using our Short Sleeved Surcoat as a base, this surcoat displays the heraldry of the Hospitaller order as prescribed by the decree of Pope Alexander IV: Sable (black) with a cross radiant Argent (white). Ideal for medieval inspired cosplay, LARP, or stage and film productions. Made from 100% linen.
