Tufted Hairgrass forms soft clumps of fine foliage topped with airy, cloud-like flower panicles in early summer. The delicate blooms catch the light beautifully. It prefers moist soils and performs well in sun to part shade. This grass adds elegance and softness to rain gardens and naturalistic plantings. Our selection of native plants in 50-plug flats is available by pre-order only from March 1 to May 15, 2026, and will not be sold at the plant sale. Flats are provided by Pizzo Native Plant Nursery and feature pesticide-free, local-ecotype native plants. All pre-orders must be picked up at the Sag Moraine Native Plant Sale on Saturday, June 6, 2026, between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm CT at Moraine Valley Community College (9000 W College Pkwy, Parking Lot D3, Palos Hills, IL 60465).
