The Classic Deluxe variant offers aesthetics alongside function, and this 2011 example in Shaded Edgeburst with its original case is a clean, ready-to-play example. What makes the T5z work as a concept is the three-pickup hybrid system: a concealed neck humbucker, a visible stacked bridge humbucker, and a magnetic acoustic body sensor. Together they give you a convincing range of electric voices and a usable acoustic approximation using a good DI or acoustic amp. The mahogany top on the Classic Deluxe gives you more midrange warmth and a slightly compressed, woodier character that suits blues, jazz, and rootsy playing particularly well. The body is compact at 14" across the lower bout and just 2" deep, and at 5 lbs 5.5 oz it wears like an electric. The Shallow C neck carve measures .804" at the first fret and .860" at the tenth and the 24-7/8" scale length and 1-11/16" nut width feel familiar coming off a Les Paul or similar. The 12" fretboard radius on the West African Crelicam ebony board plays fast, and the 21 frets are in very good shape with no concerning wear. Action is set at 3/32" on both the first and sixth strings at the 12th fret. Sapele neck and back and sides round out the construction, adding a bit of open-grain texture and midrange clarity. Cosmetically, the guitar is excellent — finish original and intact, top, neck, and body all clean, with no cracks or repairs.
