Darkness into Light - Antique Log Cabin Quilt

This Log Cabin wool challis quilt from c. 1860 is in excellent condition. This magnificent textile is comprised of various early to mid-19th century fabrics while the striking graphic patterning feels more reminiscent of 21st century digital art. The Log Cabin quilt holds beautiful cultural significance; in the time of the Underground Railroad, these quilts hung on a windowsill were used to signify a safe place where an enslaved person on the run could seek shelter.
