Antique 18ct Yellow Gold Old Cut Diamond & Pearl Gypsy Ring c.1891

This beautifully crafted antique ring, in the gypsy style is smooth and weighty made from luxurious 18ct yellow gold. The smooth domed band is star set with an old cut diamond and two shimmering pearls. The diamond is antique old brilliant cut, originally mined and cut pre-1930. Old Cuts have slightly different proportions to the modern brilliant cut, with a deeper crown and flat cullet. It would have been shaped and faceted without the modern technology the diamond industry relies on today, making each old cut diamond unique and something to admire. The ring has a lovely clear hallmark, so we can date it to London assay office 1891. It is currently a size M, is may be suitable for resizing, but we would suggest seeking advice first. Measuring 3.5mm - 7mm width, the ring has been expertly polished by our team, and is in superb condition - this is a piece of jewellery history to be treasured and enjoyed.
