Court dress meant brocades and damasks, surfaces that caught candlelight and reflected wealth. This golden yellow recalls those textile traditions, its print mimicking the look of richly woven cloth, of patterns created on looms rather than prints on fabric. The extensive smocking adds another layer of history, gathering fabric into sculptural folds the way historical dress used gathering to create shape.
