This top is 100% silk noil (raw silk) in true black. All of the hems (top and sleeve) are elasticized, making this a very forgiving fit with size fluctuations in different seasons of life. We are so proud to produce these pieces right here in Eastern USA, in a repurposed 150-year-old Catholic church! They are re-imagining US-production, creating an environment that is rooted in skilled labor, quality production, and the dignity of textile work. _____ Silk noil (also called raw silk) is one of our favorite fabrics to introduce customers to. It has a beautiful drape, an rustic yet soft, nubby texture, and is easy to care for. This is the most "washable" silk - we machine wash our own pieces regularly with no issue. Raw silk is made from the leftover fibers (waste) from the spun process of regular silk. It is very durable, and maintains the desirable qualities of being lightweight, breathable, and soft. Silk is one of the very best fabrics to dye - it holds color better than any plant-based textiles.
