El Seque Dulce 2018 (375ml)

93 Points | The Wine Advocate, Luis Gutiérrez The 2018 El Sequé Dulce has a nose of candied berries, prunes, dates, raisins and dehydrated fruit intermixed with aromatic herbs and a hint of chocolate. This is a sweet fortified Monastrell produced in a similar style of a Vintage Port, harvested a little later and fortified to 16.5% alcohol and matured in barrel for two years. It's tannic and young, with moderate sweetness and a little spirity. It should get more integrated with some more time in bottle. 2,500 bottles produced. I tasted the wines from El Sequé as part of the Artadi portfolio in 2023 and now tasted the 2022. I publish here all the notes for context and completeness of the Mediterranean article. They have purchased new vineyards and are doing some separate vinifications in the excellent 2023 vintage with the idea of maybe releasing some single vineyard or new wines in the future.
