St Magdalene Distillery St. Magdalene, also known as Linglithgow, is a long lost and much lauded Lowland distillery that was once part of Scottish Malt Distillers, along with many of its lowland neighbours. Additionally known as Linlithgow, St. Magdalene is one of the unicorn distilleries for people to try, one of the two sought-after closed lowlands, formerly with Rosebank. At its peak around 1,000,000 litres of whisky were being produced but all that stands on the grounds now are a block of flats. Douglas Laing Douglas Laing is one of very few whisky companies in Scotland that is still family-run; it was founded by Fred Douglas Laing in 1948 and is now under the leadership of Fred Laing and his daughter Cara. It is under this leadership that the company has moved towards bottling single malts in the UK rather than exporting elsewhere. Today, Douglas Laing has bottled whiskies from the likes of Brora, Ardbeg, and Port Ellen.
