ANUPAMA : Commision
This handwoven Kanchipuram Korvai silk sari is crafted in Chinna Kanchipuram using traditional three-shuttle weaving techniques and pure mulberry silk. The rich rust orange body, woven with delicate beige silk thread checks, creates a striking interplay of colour and texture, beautifully framed by elegant dark taupe borders. Intricate floral vines woven in retrapettu format and traditional pullinakham (tiger’s claw) motifs lend depth and timeless character to the sari, while the pallu continues the grandeur of classic Kanchipuram aesthetics. Paired with a one-metre contrast taupe blouse, the sari is soft, breathable, luxurious, and designed to age beautifully over time. Requiring over 200 person-hours of craftsmanship, the textile was woven through sustainable and dignified practices by artisans Pachiappan and Kamala under the guidance of master weaver Dhanashekhar. Developed under Project Anupama, the design emerged from an in-house exploration of layered floral forms and uncommon colour compositions, reflecting Parvai’s commitment to craftsmanship, collaboration, and meaningful handmade traditions.
