Norwich, Norfolk

Original art print of Norwich, Norfolk, depicting a view from Norwich Market towards Norwich Castle. Norwich is the largest city in East Anglia, one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Britain, and a UNESCO City of Literature. It has frequently benefited from named as one of the best places to live in Britain. Norwich Market has been an important local trading hub since the 11th century, in operation on the current site for over 900 years. It was most recently renovated from 2004 to 2006, and currently consists of roughly 200 market stalls, housing a wide variety of small and independent businesses. Depicted in this illustration is a view looking over the top of the colourful market stalls. Norwich Castle is no less historic, dating to the aftermath of the Norman Conquest, and complete by the time of the Domesday Book in 1086. Throughout the years the castle has been a fortress and a jail, and since 1894 it has been a museum and art gallery. It recently received a major renovation through the 'Royal Palace Reborn' project.
