A house with a proper history Herbin was established in 1670 and is the oldest name in formal ink production in the world. It has supplied ink to renowned figures in French history, including Louis XIV, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Victor Hugo. Jacques Herbin created the La Perle des Encres line — "The Jewel of Inks" - in his shop on the Rue des Fosses Saint-Germain in Paris in 1700. That is not marketing mythology. It is a working lineage, and this ink is part of it. The colour The name Rose Cyclamen takes its cue from the flower of the same name - the cyclamen, a compact, intensely coloured bloom native to the Mediterranean. The ink reflects that character well: saturated rather than sweet, with enough purple to keep it from reading as a simple candy pink. It is a colour that works beautifully for personal correspondence, journaling, annotation, and anywhere a confident hand deserves an equally confident ink. Formulation and performance Herbin inks are non-toxic and pH neutral, lightfast, water-based, smooth-flowing, fast-drying, and made with all-natural dyes. The near-neutral pH means the ink is safe for all fountain pen materials, including delicate vintage pens, and cleans easily from converters and piston mechanisms.
