San Diego 5’6” Fish
This board was first found in a La Mesa Pawn Shop in 2017 or thereabouts. I walked in and saw this and one other fish in the corner. This board had a small note on it saying it was a Steve Lis fish. The owner said it was made for his brother and he began naming off the old Big Rock kneeboards squad, many of the names i knew or remembered. I pulled it out and gave it the once over and the vibe of it sure looked correct to me. Was the Stevie Yin and Yang under the opaque color? I don’t know. I couldn’t see it. I was broke at the time so I told a couple people About it and my buddy jammed down from LA to grab it. The Dove fins system on the board was created by Stanley Pleskunas, Stevie’s life long friend and partner in crime for decades. The color was similar to boards that Stevie was. Riding in the 70s and the template looks very Gen 2 fish. I have asked Stevie if it didn’t have his little logo maybe he didn’t shape it. He said he didn’t sign all of them back then. So regardless, it reeks of San Diego soul and there is no doubt in my mind it was made here and most likely made by Stevie or one of his cohorts. Acxording to Stevie it would have been ahaped 1979-1980 zone in accordance with the Doverail Fins. 5’6” x 20.5 x 2.75” Dovetail fin system w/fins
