Goryeo Celadon Bottle with Carved Flower Design
A celadon vase made during the late Goryeo Dynasty and early Joseon Dynasty. It features a bulbous body, a slender neck, and a flared rim. Celadon from the late Goryeo period is similar in production method to the Buncheong ware that became mainstream in the Joseon period. Made from dry, coarse clay, the pieces feature a rough, unrefined form that highlights the natural character of the clay. The glaze is applied thinly, creating an uneven finish that allows the clay to show through, giving the piece a texture reminiscent of bronze ware. Subtle raised floral patterns engraved on two sides of the body show through the variations in glaze density, creating a truly beautiful effect. Due to the coarse clay, there are some unevenness on the foot.It is in good condition with a moist luster overall.
