As you can see, the dust jacket it in rough shape, but the book itself is in very good condition. John Roy Carlson was the pseudonym for Armenian-American journalist Arthur Derounian. Published during World War II, this is his account of his investigation into pro-Nazi, fascist, and anti-democratic groups operating in the United States before and after Pearl Harbor. The book is divided into two sections: “Before Pearl Harbor” and “After Pearl Harbor.” The contents include chapters on American fascist groups, propaganda networks, espionage, extremist organizations, and wartime subversion. Chapter titles include “The Hate Crusade,” “Native Fuehrer,” “Puppets of Adolf Hitler,” “Spies!,” “Underground,” “Attorney General Biddle Cracks Down,” and “Democracy Must Win the Peace!” Inserted in the book is a folded wartime newspaper map titled “Year Weather Map of Battle Fronts in Europe”, published in The Chicago Sun, Monday, April 3, 1944. The map shows major World War II theaters and weather conditions affecting military operations. Original dust jacket present, with wartime promotional text on the front and rear panels.
