Distributed by A. Cairelli of Rome, the historic supplier to the Italian Air Force, the CP-2 was developed as a professional navigation and timing instrument for military pilots. Its impressive 43 mm stainless steel case was exceptionally large for the period and ensured outstanding legibility under operational conditions. The matte black dial with luminous Arabic numerals is complemented by the highly desirable rotating bakelite bezel, one of the defining features of the military-issued CP-2. Powering the watch is the renowned Universal Genève Caliber 285, a manual-winding chronograph movement celebrated for its reliability, precision, and robust construction. The caseback bears the A.M.I. (Aeronautica Militare Italiana) military engraving together with its inventory number, confirming its authentic military provenance. Produced in limited quantities and increasingly difficult to find in original condition, the CP-2 Cairelli is today considered one of the most collectible military chronographs of the twentieth century and a cornerstone of Italian military watch collecting.
