Antique Stickpin Collection Brooch c1930

A bird and a bee, flowers and a fleur d'lis, gems and pearls, gold and enameled leaves, and many other pretty things – all in one spectacular brooch! This one-of-a-kind brooch was composed in the 1930s from seven unique stickpins that date back to the late 19th century. At the time, stickpins were out of fashion yet Victorian aesthetics were back in. Combined with an economic climate that required doing more with less and making good use of what you already had, jewelers and enthusiasts got creative, taking something old and making it new again! A glowing raspberry red rubellite encircled by a halo of small rose-cut diamonds sparkles at the center of the fabulous circle pin that acts as the brooch's base. Curls of gold radiate around the gem, composing a wreath that defines its circle shape. Behind the wreath is a series of tubes within which the sticks are placed, allowing for the possibility of adding many more pins to the collection! The seven included are a fabulous start and balance the brooch beautifully as they are. From the left we have: a sprig of enameled leaves with two old mine diamonds; a sparrow flying through a heart studded with seed pearls and carrying a diamond; a clover with ruby, sapphire, and diamond leaves; a fleur d'lis paved with natural pearls; a gold flower with a diamond center, a bee with tiger-eye stones for its body and rose-cut diamond wings; and an enameled lily with a diamond center! This collage of jewels is a true work of art that bridges two distinct eras and remains an intriguing beauty many eras since!
