Spirals II

The Work Spirals II is a one-of-one framed textile artwork, hand-embroidered silk on silk. The format is long and narrow, designed for architectural placement where proportion matters. It suits corridors, entries, and compact wall planes that benefit from rhythm without visual noise. The surface is organised as a two-column register of paired circular medallions, stacked in measured sequence. Motif types alternate through the length, including compass-star forms and rotating four-armed units, each held within a clean circular boundary. Small dot clusters punctuate the black ground and introduce controlled pauses between the larger forms. Short connector bars link neighbouring circles into a single system, keeping the field coherent from top to bottom. Colour Logic Colour is used structurally. A deep black field sets depth and increases legibility. Medallions move through controlled tones of deep red, ivory, olive, and blue-grey, contained by crisp outlines and centred discs. The composition reads clearly from a distance, then resolves into stitch texture and edge decisions up close.
