Tainted Grail RPG: Song of a Dying World: First Steps in Avalon (Quickstart Book)

A Century Ago, Humanity was Broken... Now, the Century of Mists is coming to an end as the last human strongholds take up arms and rouse from their dangerous isolation. Forced to flee the Continent because of a deadly plague known as the Red Death, the legendary King Arthur and his people once found a new home on the island of Avalon. However, this was no hospitable haven: humanity had to fight for its survival against the forces of the Wyrdness—a primordial power that can alter matter and the mind—and the Foredwellers—four-armed titans and the island’s original inhabitants. A century ago, a terrible cataclysm struck a blow to the vulnerable forces of humanity: the Fall of Avalon. What remains of humanity’s descendants live scattered around the island, striving to survive and regain their former splendor. The Time of Reconquest Has Come. Tainted Grail is a twilight fantasy universe inspired by Arthurian legends and Celtic mythology. Created by Krzysztof Piskorski and Marcin Świerkot, and developed by Awaken Realms, it first came into existence through board games (The Fall of Avalon and Kings of Ruin), then was expanded through video games (Tainted Grail: Conquest and Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, to be released). Today, after The Fall of Avalon and Kings of Ruin, Awaken Realms and Studio Agate join forces to rite a new chapter of the chronicle of Avalon, presenting Tainted Grail TTRPG: Song of a Dying World. Tainted Grail TTRPG: Song of a Dying World is a tabletop role-playing game set in a unique grim world inspired by Arthurian Legends. Players take on the roles of protectors called by an extraordinary destiny, standing as humanity's only hope in a dying world. Tainted Grail TTRPG will use uses a customized version of the Story Arc System (SAS), first developed for Shadows of Esteren, the most awarded French TTRPG, and adapted to include elements specific to the Tainted Grail board games. The Tainted Grail TTRPG system will provide the players with tools to understand and portray their character’s emotions and behaviors by focusing on their individual, moral, and human journey through Story Arcs associated with the 5 emblematic Colors of the board games. The game promotes immersion and roleplay, as each character follows a dedicated Ascension path, leading them to embrace (or reject) their inner power and become one of the Guardians of Avalon.
