Murano Glass Earrings
Genuine Murano Glass Drop Earrings A beautiful meeting of Italian artistry and Japanese vintage glass. Each earring features genuine Murano glass beads that I personally purchased from a glass studio on the island of Murano. The beads are paired with vintage glass cabochons from Japan, carefully selected because their colors beautifully complement the Murano glass. A simple accent row of beads adds a subtle finishing detail, while the Murano glass beads are suspended from delicate chain to create graceful movement. In 1291, Venetian glass makers moved to island of Murano for fire saftey. Venice's glass furnaces required intense, sustained heat and were a serious fire hazard in a city built almost entirely of wood. After a series of destructive fires linked to glassmaking workshops, the Venetian government (the Great Council) ordered that all glass furnaces be moved out of the city center to Murano, a cluster of islands in the Venetian lagoon a short distance away. Each earring measures approximately 4 inches long and .75 inches wide at the top. The earrings hang from titanium ear studs, making them a choice for sensitive ears.
