SuDS Construction Phase Plan

A SuDS Construction Phase Plan provides the operational blueprint required by site managers, developers, and Local Authorities to manage surface water and pollution risks safely during construction. The Construction Phase plan covers: Silt & Runoff Mitigation: Prevents sediment-laden water from leaving the site, clogging public sewers, or polluting nearby rivers and streams. Satisfying Planning Conditions: Fulfills SuDS, Environment Agency (EA), and Local Lead Flood Authority (LLFA) pre-commencement drainage and environmental protection requirements. Asset Protection: Safeguards sensitive newly built SuDS features (such as rain gardens, bioretention basins, and permeable paving) from being blinded or damaged during active build phases. Risk Reduction: Reduces the risk of site flooding, environmental enforcement actions, expensive clean-ups, and project delays. Required information: Full site address including postcode, site boundary plans, and proximity to watercourses/public sewers. Project Scope & Phasing Schedule: Brief outline of proposed groundworks (topsoil stripping, cut-and-fill volumes, deep drainage) and target construction dates. Proposed Drainage & SuDS Layouts: Civil/drainage drawings showing planned permanent drainage assets (e.g., ACO channels, gullies, permeable paving, rain gardens, attenuation tanks). Site Contacts names and contact details for the appointed Principal Contractor, Site Manager, and Safety/Environmental Leads (if already appointed).
