Knoll International Barcelona Chair with Ottomane The Barcelona Chair was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1929 for the German Pavilion at the International Exposition in Barcelona. Its construction is defined by an X-shaped steel frame, leather support straps and two separate button-tufted cushions for the seat and backrest. Knoll received the production rights from Mies van der Rohe in 1953 and has produced the chair according to his specifications since then.
