The Serpent and the Nine Chrysanthemum
Filipe Rocha is an illustrator and painter from São Paulo, Brazil. His main work is based on a blend of the traditional Japanese tattoo culture and his personal view of its characters such as serpents, dragons, crows, tigers, cranes. These are always depicted in intricate compositions with the tradicional flowering like peonies, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, etc. The works are fully done by hand, since the first rough on tracing paper with pencil to its conclusion on the cotton paper with inks and acrylic paint.
