Alterations 101: Hems Ready to stop putting off that pile of pants that are just a little too long? In this hands-on workshop, we’ll cover the basics of hemming and learn several techniques for different fabrics and garments. You’ll practice each technique before working on a garment of your own. We’ll cover: Basic double-fold hem Double-needle hem for knits and T-shirts Narrow hem for lightweight fabrics Jeans hem while keeping the original hem How to measure, mark, pin and press for the right finished length This class is perfect for anyone who wants to start altering their own clothes or build practical alteration skills. Skill Level: Confident beginner You should be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine. Bring: One garment you’d like to hem. We’ll provide fabric for practice samples. Bring your own sewing machine or rent one of ours.
