Tween / Teen PJ Pants – Three-Part Beginner Series In this beginner-friendly tween / teen class for kids ages 12+ students will learn how to use a sewing machine, get introduced to garment sewing patterns, and make a pair of classic pull-on PJ pants. This three-part class is a great starting point for tweens and teens who are new to sewing or who have sewn a few simple projects and are ready to try making something wearable. We’ll begin with a small warm-up project to build confidence at the machine, then move into reading a pattern, choosing a size, cutting fabric, and sewing a pair of elastic waist pajama pants. Students will make a simple pair of PJ pants with an elastic waistband, perfect for learning the basics of garment sewing in a fun, low-pressure way. No garment sewing experience is needed. This class is designed to walk students through the process step by step, starting with sewing machine basics and a simple warm-up project before moving into the PJ pants. Materials are included with this class. Students will have a choice of fabrics. Provided: Sewing pattern, fabric, sewing machines, thread, fabric shears, pins/clips, marking tools, measuring tape, irons, elastic, and instructor guidance throughout the series. Needed: Nothing Class Details Level: Beginner Ages: Tweens / Teens ages 12+ Max Class Size: 6 Duration: 3 sessions, 3 hours each Class Breakdown Week 1: Sewing Machine Basics + Pattern Intro We’ll start by learning how to use the sewing machine and make a simple warm-up project, such as fabric bookmarks, to practice stitching. Then we’ll introduce garment sewing patterns, review the PJ pants pattern, choose sizes, and cut out the paper pattern pieces. Week 2: Cutting Fabric + Begin Sewing Students will cut out their PJ pants fabric, learn how to transfer any needed markings, and begin the first steps of sewing the pants. Week 3: Waistband, Hems + Finishing Students will finish sewing their PJ pants, including the elastic waistband, hems, and final details.
