Filipa Pato Flos Castanea White 2022

"Flos Castanea” (chestnut flower in Latin) was inspired by our good friend João Goucho, grandson of the pioneer of biodynamics in Portugal, Fernando Paiva from Quinta da Palmirinha. The Filipa Pato Flos Castanea Branco 2022 has a bright and intense straw-yellow colour, with greenish reflections and good viscosity in the glass. On the nose, its striking minerality stands out, accompanied by a slight smoky touch, a reflection of the limestone soil where the Bical vineyards grow. The floral aromas of chamomile and thyme flower blend harmoniously with notes of ripe pears, so typical of the variety, and subtle nuances of dried fruits such as hazelnuts and almonds, with a light resinous hint of pine. With time in the glass, the wine reveals even more aromatic layers, including notes of honey and thyme, reinforcing its complexity. In the mouth, the wine has a creamy and enveloping texture, combining smoothness with vibrant minerality. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a spicy, intriguing sensation that invites more sips. This is a white wine that promises to evolve positively in the bottle, gaining even more depth with time.
