Oilfield Drilling Rig Hook Block — API 8C The ALL-PETRO Hook Block integrates a traveling block and a hook into one assembly for lifting the drill string during drilling operations. Covering 100 to 650 tons (900–5850 kN), the series serves workover rigs through deep drilling rigs and conforms to API Spec 8C. The housing assembly is fabricated from thick-section steel plate, and the wire rope is kept taut when hoisting or lowering the unload block. Sheave grooves are hardened by medium-frequency induction to provide extended service life, and the sheaves are interchangeable with the corresponding crown block.
