Antique French Pintucked Lingerie Band — c.1900–1920 A beautiful surviving piece of antique dressmaking — a circular band of exceptionally fine white cotton, measuring 50cm in total x 14cm, is most likely originally formed part of an Edwardian petticoat, drawers or other fine undergarment. The fabric is a lightweight, softly translucent cotton lawn or batiste, meticulously worked with rows of very fine vertical pintucks. These tiny stitched folds create a wonderful striped texture while allowing the fabric to remain light and supple.
