This single-parcel Malbec comes from a five-hectare section of the Adrianna Vineyard in Gualtallary, situated at 1,366 metres above sea level. Its deep loamy soils, scattered with limestone-covered white stones, retain freshness and support native grasses, beneficial insects and local wildlife. Made from 100% Malbec, the wine was fermented with wild yeasts and matured for 14–18 months in French oak. The warmer, exceptionally dry 2020 season delivered concentrated fruit, while the vineyard’s altitude preserved excellent freshness and acidity. Catena Zapata Highly aromatic, opening with blackberry, dark plum, sour cherry, violet and lavender, followed by paprika, dried herbs, graphite and subtle smoky oak. The palate is concentrated yet graceful, with pure dark fruit, polished velvety tannins and a distinctive chalky mineral texture. Supple and perfumed through the middle, finishing long, silky and floral. Excellent with grilled ribeye, roast lamb, beef short ribs, venison, duck breast or charcoal-grilled pork. It will also complement mushroom dishes, truffle risotto and mature hard cheeses. Entering its early drinking window now but still youthful. Enjoy from 2026 to approximately 2040, with potential beyond under ideal storage. If opening now, decant for 90 minutes to two hours and serve at approximately 16–18°C.
