ABV：6.0% 苦味：52 IBU　炭酸ガス含有量：2.5 麦芽：ピルスナー、ライ麦麦芽、シュピッツ ホップ：マンダリーナ バーバリア、シトラ 副原材料： 我が家の畑で採れたスダチの果汁 前回のWest Coast IPAからいつの間にか約10ヶ月が経ってしまいましたが、久々のWest Coast IPA:Seekは、親しみやすく飲みやさと共に、しっかりとした味わいのIPAを目指しました。 モルトの配合はピルスナーを基調とし、ボディとほのかなスパイシーさを加えるためにライモルトを少し、さらに泡持ちを良くするためにスピッツモルトを加えました。 ドライな味わいにしたいと思いましたが、極端にドライになりすぎないようにしました。苦味とバランスを取るために、ほんのりとした甘みを残しています。 ホップは柑橘系の香りを重視し、ワールプールとドライホップにはシトラとマンダリーナ・ババリアを50対50の割合で使用しました。これらにより、グレープフルーツ、蜜柑、オレンジの豊かな香りに加え、ほのかなレモンの香りまで、実に多彩な柑橘系の香りが生み出されています。 柑橘系の風味と心地よい苦味を持つSeekは、暑い夏の日に嬉しい1杯です。 It had been about 10 months since we last brewed a West Coast IPA, so we made one, Seek! With Seek we wanted a nice solid IPA that was approachable and easy drinking. The malt bill was pilsner with a touch of rye malt added for body and a slight spiciness, along with some spitz malt for foam retention. We wanted it to be dry but not bone dry. It has just a slight touch of sweetness to balance the bitterness. The hops were citrus heavy, with a 50/50 split of Citra and Mandarina Bavaria in the whirlpool and dry hop. They give a real mix of citrus with big aromas of grapefruit, mikan and orange as well as hints of lemon. I'm not sure why we haven't made a West Coast IPA for so long. Guess we have just been busy with other things, but I am glad we got back to the style. A pint of Seek with the citrus flavors and nice bitterness is very welcome on a hot summer day.
