Under Lock And Key is where Dokken's two competing strengths finally balanced out. George Lynch was one of the most technically gifted guitarists of the era and Don Dokken wanted to write melodic radio songs, and the friction between them produced this album in 1985. In My Dreams and It's Not Love became the hits, both carrying huge choruses over genuinely complicated guitar work. Unchain The Night opens the record with an intro that sounds like a horror film, and Lightnin' Strikes Again is as fast as anything on the Strip at the time. Mick Brown and Jeff Pilson give it a heavier bottom end than most of their peers had. A high point of mid eighties American hard rock, back on vinyl after a long absence. Track Listing 1.
