YOUR EYES - Etiquette Session: 1990 LP
PRE ORDER (SHIPPING IN SEPTEMBER) YOUR EYES finally get their vinyl release In 1989, four musicians from Belgium came together with a shared passion for dark, atmospheric post-punk. Inspired by Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy, and the adventurous sounds coming from the 4AD label. After only a few months, YOUR EYES had built up a collection of songs and made their live debut as the opening act for Enema Joe at a Creatures Of The Night party in Antwerp. The response was strong, and the decision was soon made to record the material. In April 1990, the band entered Etiquette Studio in Zandvliet, where they recorded their songs under the guidance of Nico de Haan. But shortly after the sessions, drummer D.D.T. (Tom De Dobbelaer) left the band. The remaining members eventually decided to call it quits, with YOUR EYES playing one final show in their hometown of Beveren, featuring Jan Dhooge on drums. And then the story went quiet. The reel to reel tape was shelved and the recordings remained unreleased for the next 36 years. Now, Nausea Records is proud to finally bring this forgotten piece of Belgian post-punk history to light. The original recordings have been carefully remastered at Subterra Studios, directly from the original reel-to-reel master tape. The remaster brings greater clarity, depth and presence to the recordings while preserving the raw character, tension and atmosphere of the original sessions. A lost recording. A short-lived band. A sound that finally gets its moment.
