Common name - Razor Blade Stag Beetle Scientific name - Prosopocoilus gertrudae The listing is for 1x beetle larva, of a beginner-friendly species of stag beetle endemic to Luzon Island. This species is characterised by its straight mandibles that resemble razor blades, and by twin peaks on its head. These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from the Luzon Island, The Philippines. Like many members of the rhino/stag beetle families, the males of this species possess large horns/mandibles used in wrestling matches with rival males, while females lack these structures. The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood.
