Hei Matau hook, handcrafted jade pendant

A handcrafted Jade Matau pendant from our Tamaki carving studio. It includes an adjustable plaited waxed braid cord, a traditional style woven presentation pouch and a description of the meaning of the carving. The Māori people were great mariners and fishermen, so the Matau is therefore one of the most powerful symbols used in Māori culture as it represents prosperity, abundance and fertility.
