Meadowscaping Workshop (Virtual) Join us for a virtual workshop on Meadowscaping - the process of creating beautiful, biodiverse landscapes with native plants! Workshop Date: Saturday, September 5th 2026 Time: 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Format: Virtual session (Zoom). A Zoom link will be sent to you after registering. Cost: $35 + GST Instructor: Kristen Miskelly Informed by Prairie-Oak (Garry Oak) ecosystems of southeastern Vancouver Island, this workshop will provide practical guidance for planning, establishing, and stewarding a native plant meadow. We'll begin by exploring the ecology, history, and stewardship of these remarkable ecocultural landscapes before diving into the practical aspects of meadow creation. Topics will include selecting an appropriate site, preparing the area, becoming familiar with many of our common native meadow species, choosing the right plants for your site, seeding and planting approaches, timing, expectations, and long-term stewardship. We'll also explore meadowscaping opportunities and examples from residential lawns, boulevards, septic fields, and other spaces. Along the way, we'll discuss how native meadows support pollinators, birds, and other wildlife while creating beautiful landscapes that strengthen the health and resilience of our local ecosystems. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion, and you'll leave with inspiration, practical tools, and the confidence to begin your own meadowscaping project.
