A FINE FRENCH PORCELAIN-MOUNTED CLOCK
A most attractive, indeed impressive, mid/late 19th century French MANTEL CLOCK complete with is original glass dome and base. This pretty clock is of compact size, the ormolu case surmounted by an urn with a finely-painted porcelain dial and matching side panels. The eight-day movement, which strikes hours and half-hours on a bell retains its original pendulum and works perfectly, having just been cleaned and overhauled. The movement and dial are both signed: T.A. Simpson of Regent Street, London….almost certainly the retailer. Height overall, including the good dome: 17ins; width: 11ins; depth: 7.5ins. Highly recommended. circa 1865-75. ** T.A. SIMPSON (Goldsmiths and Jewellers) were retailers of fine luxury goods operating from 154 Regent Street, LONDON and 34, Rue de Rivoli, PARIS. ** Please note that this excellent attractive clock is not on view in the shop; for further details call 07860 818212 or e-mail kerry@quietstreetantiques.net
