Cypress Tree Gaza Motif #2 - tiny plate (10 cm)
First seen in Beit Dajan بيت دجان, the cypress tree (شجرة السرو) is one of the most popular embroidery (تطريز) motifs across Palestine. Woven on the fabric in repetitive patterns, horizontally and vertically, there are diverse variations and colors unique to each region. Despite these distinctions, the symbol serves as a unifying element, binding all cities together and reinforcing a shared cultural heritage and landscape. Today, this motif is most common in embroidered garments from Beer al Sabe’ (بئر السبع) and Gaza (غزة). Dimensions: 10 cm diameter / 2 cm height Hand-built using beige stoneware and coated with three layers of transparent, lead-free glaze. The cypress tree motif is hand-painted in cinammon brown and lake blue. Fired to 1260°C, making it strong, durable, and non-porous. The base is left unglazed for stability, helping it grip surfaces and stay steady on your table.
