Tradescantia occidentalis Common Names also include Western Spiderwort Tradescantia occidentalis or Western Spiderwort is an herbaceous perennial native to the dry central plains of the United States. A member of the day flower family, its blue green tinted foliage is long and leafy. Reaching heights of around 2 feet tall and sporting unique 3 petaled purple blooms from late spring extending into early fall, this plant thrives in both full sun and partial shade conditions and is quite drought tolerant once established.
