Casting bones, telling futures and stories; ceramics are human's time capsules. Wood firing ceramics is deeply ritualistic in itself and is a dialogue with elements and time where ash and fire alchemically change raw materials into meaningful and impervious objects. These pieces were fired at Brickfield, St Austell. About The Artist Amelia is an Australian artist living and working in Cornwall, UK, exploring the natural world, mythology and folklore, through paint, print, pointillism and ceramics. Working predominantly with pottery since 2022, Amelia has a focus on sustainable, locally-sourced materials. Her recent practise has involved foraging for wild clay in Cornwall alongside teaching ceramics from her home studio. ’Rooted in nature and folklore, my wheel-thrown and handbuilt ceramics explore and combine traditional forms with contemporary pattern and illustration.
