At Santo António, a tree and a line of small triangular flags emerge through a darkened veil of paint. The trunk, branches, and surrounding space are reduced to softened passages, while the warm ochre ground keeps the scene between observation and partial disappearance. Lima retains just enough detail for the image to remain recognisable, without allowing it to settle into a complete description. Within Apocalypse, the painting tests how spatial perception changes when familiar forms are gradually obscured. Its compact scale intensifies this compression, holding the scene between a specific place and an atmosphere.
